When you are talking about world class talent it’s really dangerous to identify any one person as the best. But you can certainly identify them as your favorite. And that works for me just fine. Bill Holman is without a doubt my favorite Big Band arranger, and that goes for a whole lot more people too. I don't know if is still happening, but for the longest time he had a band in LA that was made up of the stars in the LA area and they would play regularly in it for free. Musicians simply loved playing with him. Holman is 90 years old today
